What are your passenger types?

We have tickets to suit a wide range of passengers:

Under 16 (child) - Anyone aged 5 - 15 years old. Children under the age of 5 travel free with an accompanying adult

Student / Young Person (16-26) - Anyone with NUS, ISIC or official University photo ID card or aged 16-26 years old with valid proof of age (including Young Person's railcard or discount coach card)

Adult - Anyone of 16 years old or over, up to 60 years old

Over 60 - Anyone aged over 60 years old

Group - Group tickets are perfect for 5 people travelling together Made up to 3 adults and 2 children or 2 adults and 3 children

Do you offer discounts for students?

Yes, students with a valid NUS, ISIC or official university photo ID can receive a discount on single, return and 12 trip tickets

Students can be of any age

Do you offer discounts for concessions?

If travelling from Oxford to London (or vice versa) then the student, young person and over 60 single or return fare will apply. Free travel is permitted on the Oxford Tube between Carterton, Witney, Oxford and High Wycombe and Hillingdon to London Victoria for those with a concessionary bus pass

In London, concessionary pass holders can travel between London Victoria and Hillingdon free of charge with their card

Can I use my concessionary pass?

Concessionary passes or in England, it's called the 'older person's bus pass' or the 'disabled person's pass' can be used on journeys up to High Wycombe from Oxfordshire.  For journeys beyond High Wycombe to London, the standard Oxford Tube fares apply.

 Passes can be used between 9.00am and 11pm on weekdays and all day on weekends and bank holidays

In London, concessionary pass holders can travel between London Victoria and Hillingdon free of charge with their card.

Do you offer discounts for children?

Yes, children between the age of 5 and 15 can receive a discount on single, return and 12 trip tickets

Children under the age of 5 travel free with an accompanying adult

What tickets and passes are available?

Our ticket range consists of the following:

Single: for a one-way trip

Return: for a two-way journey, the return trip can be made up to 3 months from the outward day of travel or from the point of purchase on the Oxford Tube app

Tube 12: 12 single journeys (6 returns) to be used within 12 months from day of purchase

7 day MegaRider: one week of unlimited travel

28 day MegaRider: 4 weeks of unlimited travel

MegaRider Xtra: Recurring 28 day ticket (providing a saving compared to repeat purchases)

Annual ticket: 365 days of unlimited travel

Local fares and passes are available on the Oxford Tube for travel between Carterton, Witney, Oxford city centre and Lewknor. Some Stagecoach MegaRider passes are also accepted on the Tube when travelling between these locations and within their valid zones

How can I buy a ticket?

We’ve made buying tickets simple for everyone. Tickets can be bought in advance on our app, paid for with cash or contactless on board, online via the Stagecoach website or via the Stagecoach app.

We offer different priced single, return and flexible tickets for different customer types: 

  • Under 16 (child): Anyone aged 5 - 15 years old. Children under the age of 5 travel free with an accompanying adult.
  • Student / Young Person (16-26) - Anyone with NUS, ISIC or official University photo ID card or aged 16-26 years old with valid proof of age (including Young Person's railcard or discount coach card).
  • Adult: Anyone of 16 years old or over, up to 60 years old..
  • Over 60: Anyone aged over 60 years old.
  • Group: Group tickets are perfect for 5 people travelling together. Made up of 3 adults and 2 children or 2 adults and 3 children.

We know there’s no such thing as “one size fits all” so we offer a wide range of tickets so you, our customer, can choose the best value travel.

  • Singles - for a one-way trip.
  • Returns - for a two-way journey, the return trip can be made up to 3 months from the outward day of travel.
  • Tube 12 – 12 single tickets to be used within 1 year of purchase.
  • 7 Day MegaRider – unlimited travel for 7 days on Oxford Tube and local Stagecoach buses in Oxford city and Oxfordshire.
  • 28 Day MegaRider – unlimited travel for 28 days on Oxford Tube and local Stagecoach buses in Oxford city and Oxfordshire.
  • 28 Day MegaRider Xtra – unlimited travel for 28 days on Oxford Tube and local Stagecoach buses in Oxford city and Oxfordshire, reoccurring ticket (providing a saving compared to repeat purchases)
  • Annual MegaRider – unlimited travel for 365 days on Oxford Tube and local Stagecoach buses in Oxford city and Oxfordshire.

Tickets are available in different ways:

  • On the Oxford Tube app – singles, returns, Tube 12, 7 Day MegaRider, 28 Day MegaRider.
  • On board – singles, returns, available to buy with cash or contactless.
  • On the Stagecoach app – singles, returns, Tube 12, 7 Day MegaRider, 28 Day MegaRider,
  • On the Stagecoach website – Tube 12, 7 Day MegaRider, 28 Day MegaRider, 28 Day MegaRider Xtra, Annual pass.
  • On the Oxford Tube website – you will be directed to the Oxford Tube app or Stagecoach website.

Local fares are also available:

  • Local fares and passes are available on the Oxford Tube for travel between Carterton, Witney, Oxford city centre and Lewknor.

How can I buy a mobile ticket?

You can buy a mobile bus ticket on the Oxford Tube app. Simply:

1. Tap 'Get your ticket' on the menu

2. Select 'Buy Tickets'

3. Toggle across to choose your ticket type

Remember to choose the right passenger type and to check the ticket terms and conditions. Once you've done that:

1. Tap ‘Buy ticket’ for each ticket

2. Go to your basket and click 'Proceed to Secure checkout'

3. Follow the prompt

How do I activate a mobile ticket?

All you need is your phone and an internet connection

1. Tap 'Get your ticket' on the menu

2. Go to 'My Tickets’

3. Select 'Ticket to Use'

4. Tap on the ticket you want to use

Don't have any data? Don't stress. You can activate and view your ticket using any Wi-Fi connection before you head to the stop. Please be aware that single and return tickets are valid for 15 minutes once activated

How long will my ticket stay active?

Once you've activated your ticket, it'll be stored on the 'Active tickets' page. It'll have the 'word of the day' and a countdown timer showing how long you can use it for. Just scan your ticket on the onboard QR reader when you get on the coach

Single and return tickets will stay active for 15 minutes. This includes any single journey you activate as part of a 12 trip ticket, so we’d suggest you only activate it when you see your coach approaching

7 day and 28 day tickets will remain active for the duration of the ticket type

What if I don’t have access to Wi-Fi or data when I need to show my ticket?

Don't worry, once you activate your ticket, you can view it offline for up to eight hours. After eight hours, you'll need an internet connection again

Can I deactivate a mobile ticket?

Unfortunately, once you activate a ticket, you can't deactivate it

Can I use more than one mobile ticket at once?

Yes! You can use more than one ticket at once

Just scan them separately when you hop on

You can swipe the screen or click the arrows to scroll through your mobile tickets

Can I transfer my mobile ticket to another device?

Of course as long as the tickets have not been activated! Just log into your app account and transfer your ticket to your new phone

You can transfer up to two different tickets once in a 90 day period, but you'll only be able to view your ticket on one device at a time. There may also be a short delay between transferring and your ticket being available on another device

12 trip tickets where some journeys have been used can also be transferred, but all remaining tickets will be transferred at once

When will my unused ticket expire?

You can check your mobile ticket's expiry date in the terms and conditions section of 'My Tickets' on the app

Or in your account if you bought on stagecoachbus.com

Most app tickets expire three months after you buy them, Tube 12 tickets expire 12 months after you buy them

But it's always best to check each ticket's T&Cs to be sure

How do I buy a ticket online?

You can buy tickets online via stagecoachbus.com or on the Oxford Tube app. On the app, you can quickly buy all tickets with the exception of year passes and use them straight away

If you're looking for a longer-term ticket, head to the ticket section on our website. You can order your ticket to use on a StagecoachSmart card

Already have a registered StagecoachSmart card? Your ticket will be ready to use within 48 hours (or at a later date that suits you)

Need a new StagecoachSmart card? We'll pop it in the post and it'll be with you within 3-5 days. 

How will I receive my online ticket?

If purchased online, your ticket will be delivered on a StagecoachSmart card

If you don’t have one already, you’ll get one free with your first online ticket purchase

Do I need to book in advance?

 No, there is no need to pre-book you ticket, the Oxford Tube operates on a “turn up and go” service so if you prefer to, your ticker can be purchased from the driver when you board the coach

My ticket has been lost/stolen?

Paper return tickets from the driver unfortunately cannot be replaced

If you bought your ticket  via stagecoachbus.com and it was delivered as a smartcard all you need to do is get in touch either by:

Using the 'My Account' section on our website stagecoachbus.com

Sending us an email at [email protected]

If you've got five or more days left on your ticket(s), we'll add this to a new card and send it to you within 3-5 working days

We know you might need to travel with us between now and then. Hold onto any paper tickets you buy while waiting for your new card. We'll let you know how to claim a refund (if you're eligible)

We automatically register your StagecoachSmart card when you get it online. This way you don't need to worry about losing your tickets too

I have lost my mobile phone with unused mobile tickets. Can I send them to my new phone?

We're sorry to hear you've lost your phone. It's never a nice experience. But you don't need to worry about your bus tickets

Your tickets are stored on our secure server. All you need to do is log into your app account on your new phone to access and activate any unused tickets
